Fashion's Night Out!

SO EXCITED TO READ ABOUT THIS TOMORROW!

Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America have teamed up to host Fashion's Night Out today, September 10, 2009! Thirteen countries around the world (United States, France, Italy, the United Kingdown, Japan, Greece, Taiwan, Germany, China, Spain, Russia, India and Brazil) will participate in this event commemorating the fashion industry and focused on restoring consumers' confidence to shop. The timing of Fashion's Night Out is impeccable with Fashion Week Spring 2010 right around the corner and the recent premiere of The September Issue, a documentary channeling the life of Vogue's editor-in-chief, fashion maven Anna Wintour.

While the celebration of Fashion's Night Out has become widespread throughout the nation, the heart of the party is in the Big Apple (shocker!) where hundreds or retailers -department stores, boutiques and specialty shops- will be hosting shopping events and keeping their doors open till as late as midnight. Exclusive discounts, gifts, giveaways, cocktails and h'ourderves will be offered as part of the celebration. Many designers will also be present... Oscar de la Renta plans to sing in his store and the Rodarte girls will be selling clothing from the trunk of a car.

Participating retailers include: Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rachel Roy, Intermix, Scoop, Gap, Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, M.A.C., Tiffany & Co., and Urban Outfitters. For a complete list visit the Fashion's Night Out Store Directory.

The event seeks not only to boost the morale of the fashion community but also to provide charitable contributions to society. A clothing drive will be held encouraging donations of new or gently used items which will benefit17 different AIDS-related charities. Customers can also purchase exclusive Fashion's Night Out t-shirts from participating retailers. Forty-percent of the proceeds will be donated to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. For those of us not in New York, shirts can be purchased online at Neiman Marcus, Nordstroms and Ralph Lauren. I bought my shirt online from Ralph Lauren (they have a free shipping code). It's comfy, cute and I can't wait to rock it tonight!
